The fine quality, litography, boxes and the more complex actions and movements helped set Cragstan apart from other toy companies. Toys by Cragstan have more quality and are more detailed than other battery-OP toys. Cragstan continued to operate through the mid 1960s. It is assumed that the company's name was derived from a combination of the owners' names. Popular and collectible toys are Cragstan Crapshooters, tinplate cars, robots and mechanical astronauts. Usually, these boxes were highly decorated. ![]() Cragstan made sure the company name and logo appeared on their packaging of their tin toys, cars and robots in which they were sold. The company's main focus was on toys with multiple -mechanical- actions, for example robots. Cragstan was a marketing and distribution firm from New York and imported post-war Japanese battery-operated and mechanical friction toys.
